Longkou has a long history. Five thousand years of changes and transformation have left for this rich and wonderful land with a lot of historic relics and human civilization which in turn have added her more mysteries and glamour. The births of heroes have brought glories to Longkou.
There have come forward a great number of historic celebrities: Chun Yukun of the Spring and Autumn Period and Warring States Period, a famous man with great humoristic eloquence who
remonstrated the Emperor of Qi with his clever analogy to establish his rulership; the famous
alchemist Xu Fu of the Qin Dynasty, a forerunner of establishing friendship between China and
Japan and South Korea who had let out sail and gone to Japan with thousands of bogs and girls,
wheat and leans as well as hundreds of craftsmen; Tai Shici of the Three Kingdoms Period , the
famous brave general; Hu Dahai, the famous man who had participated in the founding of the

In recent years, Longkou has been engaged in comprehensive development of its rich tourism resources. Ancient cultural tourist spots have come into being which center on Tangjia Relics,
Qianshan Relics, Shaojia Relics and Lujiagou Relics from the New Stone Age to the Xia Dynasty,
and ancient civilization relics like the ancient town site of Guicheng, Xuxiang Relics at Xu Fu¡¯s
hometown, Xu Gong Ancestral Temple, the ancient town site of Huangxian and the Ding¡¯s former
residence. While excavating historic and cultural relics, the Qimudao Resort which is famous for
its beautiful natural scenery and the the fashionable Nanshan Scenic Spot have also taken shape.

(2) The pear flowers of Longkou
The beautiful and marvelous Longkou Pear Garden lies among the hills south of Longkou. Every year around the 15th of April, pear flowers will be in full bloom. Mountains and fields will be covered with snow-while pear flowers. When the sun is shining, the hillsides look like covered with dazzling bright silver rivers and waterfalls.
The pear trees in the garden grow here and where, in rows, in lines, finely strewn at random. Tree crows spread over, branches closely joined to each other, and under the great shades, bees are humming and birds are singing. Rambling in the garden, gentle wind kissing your face, the flower petals falling in gusts, you will feel just like bathing in the sea of flowers.
(3) Qimudao Island
The Qimudao Island lies 2 kilometers northwest of Longkou Port. The total acreage is 4.078 square kilometers. To its south, there lies the wide and flat golden sand beach, and to its north, there are the sea and cliffs. Grand mountains, crystal clear water, human culture and famous historical sites, all these have formed the 10 scenic spots of Qimudao Island. Under the reflections of the water, the General Stone and Saddle Stone look martial and majestic, just the very image of an armored general who is standing there toweringly.
(4) The Xugong Temple
Xu Fu is a famous alchemist in the Qin Dynasty and a great navigator too. More than 2,200 years ago, it was him who led thousands of boys and girls, with wheat and leans as well as hundreds of craftsmen, let out sail to go to Japan. He was the forerunner of building friendships among China, japan and South Korea. Xu Fu has won the respects and admiration of the people of China, Japan and South Korea, etc. for generations.
Xugong Temple lies in Xu Fu Town of Longkou city. It was built in commemoration of the famous alchemist Xu Fu of Qin Dynasty. The Japanese Xu Fu Garden stands in Shinguushi, Wakayamaken, Japan.
(5) The little water-eroded cave in Laishan
The little water-eroded cave in Laishan is a great wonder. Inside the cave, freakish stones stand in great numbers, small and big, high and low little caves join closely to each other. On tope of the cave, there are stone ¡°Bugles¡±, and on the walls, there are decorative patterns, and on the bottom of the cave, water babbles. It is warm in winter and cool in summer, and the weather here is very pleasant. The little cave in Laishan belongs to the center of faulted structure geologically. Stalactites inside the cave take on a variety of appearances and shapes, some like the falling waterfalls, some like the hovering Buddha¡¯s hands, and some like water lilies, lotuses, coral and wild chrysanthemum¡¡. The subterranean water is crystal clear, fragrant and sweet. Inside the cave, it is cool, quiet and mysterious. Staying at it, you will feel just like walking in a maze. In the process of excavation and development, animal fossils, stoneware and earthenware have been discovered. The little water-eroded cave of Laishan can be called the great wonder of the Jiaodong Peninsula. It can not only be development as a tourist scenic spot, but also an important site for archeology.
